This is a charming Portuguese café run by a Portuguese family, and I stopped by for a quick Sunday breakfast. The atmosphere felt very authentic and lively, with many regulars who clearly know and appreciate Portuguese food and culture. It almost made me forget that I was still in San Jose. The lady at the counter was incredibly warm and welcoming. I ordered an espresso with milk, a pastel de nata, and a ham and cheese sandwich. The coffee was very good, and the ham and cheese sandwich was simple but enjoyable. The standout was the Portuguese cheese, which had a distinctive slightly salty flavor that I really loved. I asked for the sandwich to be toasted, and the lightly crunchy bread made it even better. I also tried the pastel de nata, the famous Portuguese custard tart. It was good, but I wasn’t completely impressed this time. I expected the pastry to be flakier and crispier, while the crust felt a bit soft and slightly soggy to me. Perhaps it had been sitting for a while, or maybe I just visited on an off day. It was still enjoyable, but not quite what I had hoped for. Small shop, simple menu, prices are better than any where else. Only thing you best have cash on hand, no plastic. I was going here for a short 2 years and it felt good to be remembered and order already made as i walked through that door. I miss this place and the owner.

Amazing food and service! My husband was born in Faial and came over at age 2 and listening to them chat toetger this morning as we were traveling through from AZ was amazing! Thank you so much!

Super welcoming, friendly service. Great place to stop and grab a cup of espresso and the Portuguese bun sandwich with the São Jorge cheese. Cash or Venmo only. Big parking lot.

Love this local coffee spot. The owner is super nice and welcoming. It seems like a community center where everyone knows each other, greets warmly, and even offers to share seats. We enjoyed a cappuccino and a latte (they offer soy/almond milk for substitute), we appreciate so much with the owner’s sweet treat! The relaxed atmosphere here feels so European, instantly bringing us back to Portugal and sparking that nostalgic feeling. Great spot to chill with excellent coffee and some food. Definitely coming back. Cash or Venmo only. Free parking right next to the shop.
